Description

The Ultimate 5.4L / 5.8L GT500 Pistons. Designed for 2500+ HP, 9K+ RPM and Methanol. These are the exact same pistons and rings we use in Heaven's Reject and they have been track proven. From the softened valve pockets, to the finish on the piston skirt, there are so many details that are included to make these pistons so reliable at incredible power levels and cylinder pressures. 

Why 3.630" Bore? 3.630" Bore is a great place to start with a freshly sleeved engine block. It's large enough to show power gains when compared to the standard 5.4L 3.552" Bore, while leaving plenty of room for rebuilds. Going straight to a 3.681" or 3.700" bore is not a good plan for an engine that you plan on racing competitively. You will want to plan on new rings and a fresh hone after 120 - 200 passes depending on the power level and fuel used. 

Compression Ratio: 10.5:1 - 11.25:1
With factory length connecting rods and a factory deck (10.079"), these pistons will sit .040" in the hole. This combo paired with factory 52cc heads will yield a static compression ratio of 11.25:1. 
However we designed these pistons to be used with an Aluminum Rod that is .007" shorter than stock, our 54cc chambers and .050" thick head gaskets. This combo will yield 10.5:1 static compression. 

Line2Line Skirt Coating - These Pistons come with an abradable powder coating on the skirts. This coating allows the pistons to be installed as tight as 0.0010" Piston to Wall clearance at room temperature. As the engine warms up, the pistons and cylinder walls will grow at different rates. This coating will buff off as needed and self clearance while providing scuff protection to the actual piston skirts. By installing the pistons as tight as possible in the bore,  we can drastically improve piston ring seal. This is extremely beneficial in Alcohol applications, because the better the ring seal, the less fuel you're going to get into the oil. We have used this coating many times over the past 3-4 years with zero complaints. It will last hundreds of passes, even with Methanol. This coating can also be removed and re-applied by L2L to take up additional clearance for rebuilds that only need a light hone.
